I was so pleased to see Jon smiling at me when I entered his room this morning. He had slept quite well, the pain has subsided and it only hurts when he moves now. He has indigestion which they are medicating. They got him up for a walk around the room and sat him in a chair twice today and are pleased with his progress. He is now being fed through a tube into his neck because they don't want to risk him being sick again. I decided to massage his calves and when the nurse saw me she told me off, incase I move a clot! Don't worry, I dobbed him in and said he'd made me do it!
Jen commuted to work for the first time today and dealt with the many emails and cancelled appointments that had accumulated in her absence and Oli is back into the swing of it at work too. I don't know what I would have done without them.....
I can't tell you how much he enjoys me reading your messages to him each morning, We have wonderful family and friends.

Hi Marilyn,
ReplyDeleteGlad Jons had a better day.
Going to be brief cause I can't wait to test this waiting a second after Ive put my name in (Thanks Anni!)
Phil
Glad the pain's a lot better - makes me feel better too!! Hope continues this way. Love to all, Pam and Jan xx
ReplyDeleteSounds like a much better day, what do the nurses massage I wonder to put the colour back into your cheeks? Fernhurst you will have seen is in the headlines, gunfights and the like, next visit, come armed. the place is crawling with police, bit like the buses none seen for months and then 10 come along at once.
ReplyDeleteContinue to behave, even if you are unreasonably dobbed in by Mrs B, it's the only way to achieve freedom.J&RXX
Very glad to hear you all had a better day. Hopefully it's all going to be a bit better each day. But no more moving clots around (insert your own joke here).
ReplyDeleteHope the good news continues.
Tessa xx
Hi Marilyn wonderful to read that you were greeted with a smile - many of my work colleagues now know who Jon is and ask about his progress as well! Love to you all Janie
ReplyDeleteJon's Bum has had more than a thousand visitors!
ReplyDeleteWhat good news. Really hope the improvement continues.
ReplyDeleteLove to you all and especially Jon.
Sara, Les and Samantha
Jon, great to hear you are making fantastic progress every day and Marilyn, nice to hear a positive tone in your typing...
ReplyDeleteThought I would send you some tips...

The nerve of some of those nurses. A wife showing her husband some care and they worry about a 'possible' blood clot .. what would they know !
It's also good to see food in hospital has improved (not) and has to be fed down your neck
Keep it up (not by massage Marilyn) ... I meant keep up the good recovery !!
Adam
I'd love a leg massage, please pop round any time Marilyn!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased Jon's moving about a bit, that's such good news.
Will Jon have access to skype? That way I won't have to breathe any of the outside world's germs over him.
We're routing for you honey.
Lots of love.
Lynn D xx
Hi Jon - Captain Greasy here. We are so shocked to hear your news. We only found out on Friday and it's taken us another few days to find the blog! We're loving the headgear - is this to hide the new hair transplant? Perhaps the surgery will improve your speed on the pitch although you may fail the doping tests judging by all the tubes? You certainly qualify as a true old Peculiar now, not quite as peculiar as Pete and Chris yet!
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to seeing you again when you feel ready.
In the meantime our thoughts are very much with the 4 of you.
All our love the Potters. xxx
So glad to hear that Jon is feeling better. I'm so shocked that Jon's Bum has had over 1000 visitors - it must be the stockings! Marilyn, what were you thinking to try a massage at a time like this? Good grief, the man can't even eat! Love and good wishes as always, Frances and Skip xoxoxox
ReplyDeleteHi Jon and Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThanks for updating us with Jon's progress Marilyn. It's great to hear he's on the mend. We were very relieved to hear they were able to operate - it must have been horrible waiting to hear if they could - and that after considerable agony, that doesn't bear thinking about, the pain is easing. I'm sure all those long gone Epping high teachers feel like there is some justice in the world considering what a pain in the bum you were to them. Had a terrible shock when I clicked on the search button for your blog to find the first entry that came up was Penis Smasher!!! Thought for a moment you'd gone the whole hog (should that be sow) and had a front as well as a back makeover. Keep getting better, and to borrow an Americanism, we've been [metaphorically]rooting for you.
Love Jim and Lorrie
I only hurt when I move too...I think it's just old age. And the indigestion could be beer-related like mine..So apart from a big hole in you, there's not much wrong..
ReplyDeleteKeep smiling.
HI Marilyn. So pleased to read better news this morning, and that Jon is not suffering so much. Poor chap. We love this blog - it makes the first few minutes in the office so much more fun. Just shows how much you are all loved. Pass a bit on to Jon from all of us please, and of course to you and Jen and Oli. Peter and Ann xxxx
ReplyDeleteJust returned from Silverstone so thought I'd drop by and see how the clot, sorry I mean, patient, is getting on - been thinking about you and so sorry to hear that you had a few rollercoaster days but hopefully today is a little better again...? Marilyn, don't give up the day job, massaging his leg indeed - don't tell me, he said 'a little higher please, love'! Incidentally Anni, it's a good job you aren't all in hospital together - Neville gets excited enough at the thought of stockings, think what he'd be like if Jon was wearing them!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you are all in our thoughts, what a wonderful family you are with so many well deserved friends - keep strong all of you.
lots of love B & C x
So happy to hear that Jon is feeling better and things are improving. Please send our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Lots of love Sue, Matthew and family xx
ReplyDeleteThe Singapore Slings here!
ReplyDeleteIt is night time and am later with this massage/message. So pleased you are more comfortable today, we don't like to think of you in pain with a sad face. Marilyn, the image of you moving Jon's clots makes me really giggle. Goodness knows what you will be up to tommorow. Sleep well all our love the Smiles xxxxx
Jon,
ReplyDeleteWith plenty of time on your hands, ponder this...
Do Roman paramedics refer to IV’s as “4’s”?
ACD&E
With all that love out there would you consider sending a little bit of it our way??!!
