A good day today.
Our good friends Lynn and Gill called around this morning for coffee. I left the girls to it and went into the office to do my invoices and leave copious notes to my excellent team John, Paull, Steve, Joanna and Linda. I am so lucky to be able to leave the practice in such safe capable hands.
Back home at around 3pm and made further phone calls to good friends breaking the news. Talking about it is fantastically therapeutic and this blog is a great help. The site has had 100 hits today from friends and family! Very heart warming to all of us. Thank you so much.
Some beautiful flowers arrive from Ruth, Claire, Caroline, Robyn and Kelly who are Oli's friends. Such sweet girls who I know were just using him to get to me.
We had a quite night in tonight. Just me, Oli and Marilyn all having a cuddle on the sofa watching a crappy movie. Jen had to go back to London today to get clothes and see her man. She is coming back on Monday. She is gorgeous and has just text me a goodnight kiss.
Phoned our good friends Tim and Frances in Canada to have a chat. Francis is tremendously uplifting and as usual we talked complete nonsense in fits of laughter.

Hi Jon and Marilyn
ReplyDeleteJust had breakfast wtih the Epping gang, Marty, Jill, Liz, Janie and us - Marty kept the jokes coming in your absence. Not in the same class though so we have reserved a spot for you at our next gathering - no excuses next time! There was much fond thinking of you and positive thoughts about 'good' news after Tuesday's meeting. All our thought will be with you and your gang so wish you the very best for this week.
Love Jim and Lorrie
Have just read all the news on your blog, the first time that I have ever blogged, if that is the right expression, and what hits me most is your wonderful sense of humour Jon, it just shines through what must be very nervous times. I am sure this will help you all through the next weeks, please don't lose it. You have so many positives still in your life.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Hi Jon, Graham Pash here, good luck mate, I will look after Marilyn whilst your in hospital, so no need to worry at all, just might need a couple of reminders, I seem to have lost my blog, any ideas ?? If you have a spare can I have it. Lots of love and kisses, we go back a long way xx
ReplyDeletePoor old Jon, what's going on? Sad and grotty? Due to botty! Feeling shot? Gotta trot? On the john, soldier on! Borborrygmic? Stools are seismic!! Donning nappy, happy crappy! In the bag? What a drag! Bottom line, you will be fine! So here's the deal, Beale, you WILL heal!! Lindsay & Nic XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
ReplyDeleteHi Jon,
ReplyDeleteI heard about your diagnosis via the US - Liz had told Debbie who told me! Debbie was looking forward to catching up with you in Sydney next week, but that's not happening.
As a relative of a victim, and with no knowledge of the gravity of your situation, all I can say is that success rate seem pretty good, and my mother's bad expersince was many years ago, so keep positive - I guess that equates to "Fart while you can"!
Jan
Hello dear Jon - yes, some of the Epping mob met for brunch and we raised our coffees in salute to you this morning (no hard drinks for breakfast!). There's a group photo coming to you soon.
ReplyDeleteThe love and caring that is coming through this site is wonderful. Being able to share in the hard facts entwined with your unique humour and deep caring for your family and friends is such an honour.
My love and thoughts are with you Jon and with Marilyn, Oli & Jen as you take on the weeks ahead.

Hi Jon & Marilyn
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a lovely slobby night in front of the telly. Just wanted to quickly let you know you are thought of, not least when I woke up and heard the trumpet voluntary (or involuntary) from Bill's rear end - I think he needs to come to you for some tuning. I also never thought that I would be thinking of YOU at such times!! The fart story so made us laugh, and Marilyn, I cannot believe it - I'm sure it's a very ladylike little 'puff'. Bill's thinking of a fund raiser to 'keep the ol' fart farting'....perhaps Britain's got Talent (go on, you must have watched it last night - the guy who 'played his nose'???)will be interested! Hope you enjoy today as the feast before the famine tomorrow....good luck, be thinking of you and send you all lots of love, take care of each other B & C xxx
Dear Jon Jon,
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note to say I’m thinking of you. Keeping up the Beale family tradition of bad jokes, I see? I'm glad you’re using your illness as an excuse. We wouldn't want you just bumming around. Anyway, everyone in Australia is thinking of you. Wish we were closer at times like this. Love (maybe not your favourite but definitely your number 2) niece, Jessie xxxx
Dear Jon
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know that we are all thinking of you and Marilyn and Oli and Jennifer.
Once you are back on your feet again we will have to have the golfing/hockey crew round for dinner and I will come up with the fartiest menu I can think of - you can gloat that you will not be affected! If Malcolm is anything to go by, lamb, lots of onions and and raspberries should do the trick! Shame it is not brussel sprout season!
Lots of love
Tricia & Malcolm

Jon,
ReplyDeleteI've had a word with Cees and he says not to worry about your baggage when you go into the Nuffield. He will courier it back from Spain when it arrives there!
Take care my friend, love to all
Andy & the Gang
Hi Jon,
ReplyDeleteTwo months recovery you say? Just enough time to get some fitness training for the start of next season.
I hope all this worry hasn't turned your hair grey, but it will take your mind off the thinning, which is starting to show.
The hat looks great, but we know what's going on.
All the best from the Culshaw's. I'm avoiding the puns, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel. I'm also going to avoid the Hearn's ...forewarned is forarmed!
JC
Hi Jon
ReplyDeleteWe really love your bum blogs and the first thing I do when I get out of bed is to switch you on.
Steve and I visited a friend here in Singapore who was just coming home after his op, diagnosed with bowel cancer. It is two years on and he is just great.
You fart more when you are nervous, so enjoy.
The Miles are BEHIND you, all our love
