Idle Jottings

My batteries ran low yesterday and I spent most of the day in bed snoozing. Marilyn’s niece Karen and her fiancé Simon called in before lunch and it was lovely to see them. They are getting married in New York in September and we are all looking forward to it immensely. Marilyn and I will then go on to see our very good friends Francis and Skip in Canada and will have a short holiday with them.

I have been back to the hospital today for routine blood tests and to have my drain wound dressed as it is not healing properly. It was lovely to see all the nurses again and they made a fuss of me.

I am slowly getting to grips with life with a bag and I am learning by trial and error. For example, changing it whilst swimming is not a popular move.

So it was Chris and Jane Stone who were number 2000 and not Joanna. That makes more sense. I know for a fact Jane has a naked photo of me on her fridge which she semi worships so it only seems fair that Chris should have his own picture of Marilyn. I don’t know what he did with the one I sold him last year!

I am trying to come up different ways for recycling the bags. So far I have come up with:
Green land mines
Caravans for dung beetles
Foot warmers
Extreme whoopee cushions

I am now well enough for visitors and would love to see you all if you are passing (Canada, Australia, Singapore and Japan are excused). Could you please ring Marilyn first as she is keen that visits are staggered.

Much love,
Jon xx

  1. Hi John,
Thanks for the offer of visiting, but surely as you now have time on your hands couldn't you do a tour and visit us ??
Sandie is away on a weeks holiday in Palma, so having to dog-sit and fend for myself.
By the way where is the photo of Marilyn posted, expected to see it at the top of the page !!
Am sure that all ABs send their best wishes, so will raise our glasses to you both on Saturday night at the AGM Dinner.
    Love to you both.

  3. Hi Sweetie,
Good to know that you are doing o.k. and that the bag thing isn't slowing you down. Also good to know that Marilyn is still organizing (i.e. scheduling visits). Is she making you sit anywhere special or are you allowed to choose your own seat? Skip is mid sail as we speak, together with his motley crew. The boat is now in Lake Erie and, if all goes to plan, they should be starting the 8 hour trip through the Welland Canal into Lake Ontario on Thursday. All thing should be ship shape and presentable for your impeding visit! Will keep you posted. Lots of Love Frances and Skip xoxoxox

  4. Hi Sweetie,
Glad you're home and doing well, you look really great!!

Just got back from the Farringford on the Isle of Wight and we were thinking about you all and the time we spent there. It's not really changed!! (Marilyn, do you remember the famous line, " Jon you CAN'T"?)
Nic says you're still a very dirty lady (especially after those photo's!!!!)
Great to see the Beale sense of humour hasn't been affected Jon. I do think the bag should be given a name though. Any suggestions?

Much love and hugs to you all, from us all xxxxx

  6. “Is your colostomy bag full, or are you just happy to see me?”

I confess, this was stolen from the ostomy bag joke website. Unbelievable but it really exists!

Glad you're settling in back at the ranch, see you soon. Much love.

  7. As far as the name is concerned, I definitely think "Poopsey" should be in the running. Maybe you could start a competition and let the winner take a look at it. Then you could show them the bag. LOL

It's great to hear you're doing so well and back on home soil. The two hour nap is a great improvement - it shaves at least an hour off the normal office routine. Take care and see you soon, and don't let the old bag run your life.

  11. Think Sue's name for the bag Winnie (the pooh) stinks! What about Napoleon Stomafart?
All the very best to you Jon.

  12. Glad to see we made the list of exemptions, didn't really want to come round anyway. Got a bit of work to do on my carpet bowls before I cross the threshold again.

So great to hear that things are on the up.

    Much love to all
