Oli and I had a lovely visit with dad today, he was feeling very positive and has now been detatched from most of his fixtures and fittings. Hopefully he will be allowed home for a couple of hours on Sunday and will be coming home for good early next week. He still needs to build up his strength and become more mobile but this should be easier now he's lost his drains and drips.
Dad was telling Oli and I earlier that he is now no longer thinking of himself as sick but as recovering.
We can't WAIT to have him home and are all so proud of him!
It won't be long now til he's blogging again himself...watch this space.

Thats great news ! Never had any doubt you would win this contest. Just make sure you keep your spirits up, Jon, and get back to full health quickly.
ReplyDeleteI'm away for the weekend on tour with Malc and the lads, upholding the Oldies & Baddies golfing standards (?). We'll miss you, but we'll all be with you in spirit, and as Malc said earlier, we may even have a tot or two to celebrate ! I'm sure you'll "sense" us toasting your good health ! And we'll try to bring you back a few photos - carefully selected of course !
We'll all be much more relaxed knowing you are over the worst !
Keep it up. All the best
Dave Bj
Hi Jon, how are you doing mate? Been thinking of you loads and of course Marilyn, Oli and Jen too and really really glad to read the recent posts are about better days, positive feelings and a sense of recovery.
ReplyDeleteI’ve read all the comments on this blog thingy and your huge courage is an inspiration, so much so that I have now stopped complaining to Karen about my sore big toe (left foot, the kicking one, not the standing one). But as I’ve mentioned it I might as well give you some more details. Vets football (yes, I am over 35), last Saturday, up front, back of the net, shepherds bush, big boots, sore toe. Nightmare! Anyway, its kept me out of the gym all week and off the jogging streets of Twyford.
So how’s the Nuffield for you? I remember visiting my mum was there 25 years ago having a hystere…..hysteri….histo….oh you know, women’s stuff. And then I was there in ’91 having the old tonsils out. Now that was agony. I wasn’t gently weaned back onto solids through viennetta and squirty cream, oh no, 3 cream crackers and a cup of drawing pins to wash them down. Ouch! Worse of all, my mate’s mum was the nurse administering the jab to my right arse cheek (can I say arse on your blog?) which meant she obviously saw my right cheek in all its glory, which though apparantly nicely shaped (that Karen, she’s such a flatterer) is very Procol Harum. Blindingly so! If your lucky when you get out, I’ll show you mine if you show me yours...
I am so pleased to hear that hopefully you’ll get back to the Lodge for a bit on Sunday, I promise I haven’t been round there raiding your lager stash (again) in your absence, although I am getting quite a taste for VB having invested in my own supply. Karen is taking me out tomorrow night, we’ll be raising a glass to you, with much love.
So – that’s it from me for now, will write again soon. P.S. home alone tonight, with nothing but Question Time and research on the internet. KP? Lording it with your lot in Woks! Get well soon, thinking of you, Si xxxxxxx
Great news! Never had any doubts - although, did have a couple of dodgy moments regarding the stockings (still having trouble with the image!). Assuming that the lack of drips, drains, tubes and other such violations means that you can eat now? Hope you continue to recover and make it home safe and sound on Sunday. Still sending the good vibes! Love Frances and Skip xoxoxox
ReplyDeleteJewish penicillin (chicken noodle soup) bubbling away in the wings and will swiftly be delivered as soon as you return to the nest.Hugs, Lindsay x
ReplyDeleteHi Jon. Really glad to hear that you are now "recovering" and it will be wonderful for the family when you are home, I hope you are going to be a good patient and do as you are told!
ReplyDeleteI remember having my appendix out in the Nuffield when I was 14 - it was £35 a week then, or it might have been a day but I imagine it is rather more now! and there was a remote control tv in my room which I had never seen before!! Lots love to you, M,O & J hope to see you all soon Sue xx
Hello to all the Beales. What great news!! Well done to all involved in getting you to the recovery stage Jon. Delighted to know you will soon be home - what a huge amount of fuss is coming your way! Keep up the good work Beale Team and we look forward to more updates. You know you will have to keep this blog going now, don't you? So many people are relying on it. Lots of love to Jon and all of you, from the Simmos xxxx

ReplyDeleteJust a quick note for Marilyn...
ReplyDelete...sending over a big hug from the Phelps / Larby clan. We know how emotionally draining all this is. You were a rock to us. We just want to let you know that we are thinking of you lots and lots.

Better and better news. All those so positive thoughts have worked. Spoke to Bob Pullin yesterday Jon he sends his warmest regards and wishes for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteSee you very soon J&RXX
Dear Jon,
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to hear that they're letting you come home this weekend.
i hope you're bearing up OK i know it's been incredibly hard... it has been heartwarming in the extreme seeing this blog develop... your friends and family have been amazing. God bless the internet.
It's also encouraging to see that someone has at last created a website that Oli visits more frequently than jordanfanclub.co.uk
We honestly never thought we'd see the day.
See you soon mate...
... and with maximum love...
Tommy x
So glad to hear the good news. You've had a tough ordeal. We wanted to say something funny toi give youa laugh, so perhaps we could repeat the story of a patient recovering from a similar ordeal. He asked the "radio doctor" if his "spinnaker would work again?" So the best we can do is to join with him and wish you wind up your "spinnaker"!
ReplyDeletePerhaps we should leave the "funnies" to you and stick to the straight lines.
WE are thinking of you, and hope to see you back in Oz one day soon to catch up on that trip you missed.
Love and best wishes,
Jenny & Paul
