Well Jon has had a busy day today. He had his final tube taken out, took a shower, walked quite a way, walked up some stairs, ate all his meals and received the thumbs up from the consultant. Unfortunately in the usual two steps forward one step back route, he was unwell all afternoon and very sick again this evening - the intestine is still not fully playing ball. Apparently, this is a common thing and we hope this wont put back his 'release date' back but he has to get through this hurdle before he can go home. Hopefully he will sort it all out over the weekend.
Oli and Jen have gone back to London for 2 nights so I am 'home alone' but I'm fine.. It's actually quite nice to have some space to myself for a short time (and to get back control of the TV remote!)
Another great collection of messages today - thanks so much - even when he is flat he still loves me reading them to him every morning! Not long before he will be thanking you himself.
Enjoy your weekends
Love Marilyn XX

Hi Jon & Marilyn
ReplyDeletePatrick is home so am sitting comfortable on the sofa using his laptop, thinking about you lots and hoping you have had a good day and that you will soon be home. I have had a 'crap' ! week at work so 'thank god it's Friday' was uttered by me several times through the day today but obviously my 'crap'
week was nothing compared to yours.
Good luck Jon with the recovery, keep your spirits up and know that everyone is 'behind' you.
Lots of love, Gill x
Two steps forward and one back is probably all as you can expect. This means you are getting better and you can't rush these things although as someone who suffered from C. Difficile I have sympathy with the sickness. A friend sent me a card when I was so ill which I treasure and I hope Jon finds useful - the message was 'Be gentle with yourself ... you just need some time to heal'.
ReplyDeleteHope Marilyn has a relaxing time 'home alone'.
Love to you both Sara.
Hi Jon
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if you are recovering slowly but surely don't forget the tortoise beat the hare!
The golfing Tour de France left here at 6.15 am and the boys arrived safely at 10.30 am.
Pre-match excuses were logged by the following: Chris - bad shoulder and hips, Malcolm - tennis elbow, Dave B - bad ankles and back, Dave H - Achilles, nothing reported by Peter and Colin!
Match result - 1st Malcolm 2nd Chris
Weather report - some sun, mostly rain
Food - Creme Brulee
A message from the boys "Weather's crap - bummer of a day. Lots of wind. Now in the bar. Bottoms up. Missing you." The boys on tour.
Hope you have a good day tomorrow and fingers crossed for Sunday. Lots of love to both of you. Jane
It must be lovely to get rid of all the tubes, and thumbs up from the consultant can only be a good thing. Sorry to hear about the sickness, but keep thinking of all the progress made so far.
ReplyDeleteHope Marilyn has a peaceful evening and a chance to relax. Watch something silly on the telly and unwind for a bit.
Hope the weekend goes to plan. Keep going! Tessa
Hi all,
ReplyDeleteReally glad to hear Jon's release date is nearing....it all sounds very positive - just a shame he has to have the one step back as well.
Looking forward lot's to seeing Jen tomorrow evening with Laura & Martina, I'm going to bake her her favourite Ali recipe which is my lemon drizzle cake as a very well deserved treat! Maybe she'll save some to take back to The Lodge...however I doubt it'll last much past tomorrow!!
Big love to you all, Ali x x x
You are doing amazing well and now all your tubes are out you probably thought you could run before you could walk! Thinking of you Jon and you too Marilyn not to mention Oli and Jen.
ReplyDeleteMuvh Love the Smiles
Jon
ReplyDeleteglad to hear all the accessories have now gone - plastic is SO unbecoming !sorry to hear about the 'chundering ' but just this one to get over ......just think , you could have been playing golf in the pissing rain this weekend ,instead of in the sunshine when you come out !!God really does work in mysterious ways ! hope you're feeling better today - love you both Sandi & Phil L
Hi Jon, Graham and Christine here, glad to hear your moving forward, think of it as a dance, one, two three, one two three, the end result is always worth it, really hope your intestines settle down and start doing their job really soon, lots of love xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jon. Thumbs up! Thumbs up what? No wonder you had a bit of a relapse. Tell that consultant to keep his digits to himself. Lots of very wise words from all your pals, not least "be kind to yourself". You have made such wonderful progress. Just goes to show that all that dedication to your body over the years was not in vain. Lots of love to you and especially to Marilyn having some well-earned "me" time. Love to all, the Simmos xxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Jon, Marilyn, Oli and Jen,
ReplyDeleteMy first post here so let me start with a big hug and kisses to all of you. My thoughts are with you now more than ever.
Jon, so happy to hear that you are already on the mend and gearing up to get back on the hockey pitch. I'll see you there my friend:-)
Seeing as it's my first post I feel the urge to make an almost obligatory arse comment.... They say that you when you are far apart you can look up at the sky and wherever you are in the world feel closer together. The Big Dipper, The Bear, Uranus, they all can bring us closer together.
All the way from Japan.
Lots and lots of love
Paul and fam.
Hi Jon
ReplyDeleteLatest update from the boys golf tour (boys - they are all over 50 for god's sake!). Malcolm is very much missing his room buddy as he says Colin snores too much. He won the trophy today by 1 point over Chris, and weather today been great - sorry to rub it in!
They are all thinking of you and hoping that you get home very soon.
Will post another up-date tomorrow.
Lots of love
Tricia
