Dad was very chirpy when I saw him today. In fact he was standing up doing his marching excercises when I walked in the room. He's graduated out of his gown, into a matching blue t-shirt / boxer short combo.
He's being fed by a drip again. It's a white substance that looks suspiciously like shampoo and he appears to be being pumped full of it. It's giving him a well earned break from his eating-vomiting cycle thats been getting him down.
The operation required a large incision running centrally down his body from just below the nipples to just above his 'special place'. It had been held together with lots of metal staples. They all came out today, having done a wonderful job of keeping his insides... inside, despite a lot of wretching and heaving. I imagine that was very painful, but he was laughing and joking about the different nurses' removal techniques.
I think it's another day off the food tomorrow. After that he'll try eating again by which time hopefully his digestive system will have ceased its hunger strike. It can't hold out much longer.
Keep posting. Mum has promised to post a photo of herself naked when we reach 2000.

Hi Jon,
ReplyDeleteOK, Guess I'll just have to wait.
You missed nothing this weekend - been lousy with the weather. Fingers crossed for your return home this week.

Hi Jon
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a better day. It must be better without all the metal staples. Have you kept them as souvenirs for an after dinner topic of conversation?
Day 3 Tour de France report
Team Malcolm, Chris and Colin thrashed Team Dave, Dave and Peter.
Weather - heavy rain and wind at first but then turned into a warm sunny day.
Food - not reported but they were in the city centre!
They were all in bed by 11 pm French time when I sent them the news about your scar. They obviously can't take the pace of golf all day for 3 days in a row. You will have to get better soon and show them how it's done!
They are due back tomorrow evening and I am sure they will be blogging themselves as soon as they can with all the tall stories of their first foreign tour. They have missed you.
Hope you have a good day tomorrow. love Jane
I really must check the previous comments before I blog as I seem to be repeating what Tricia has already told you!!
ReplyDeleteTake care love Jane
Can I just clarify Marilyn (for Neville!) is this without any strategically placed items? will it be a full frontal, no holds barred photo?!! xxx
ReplyDeleteRipping your shirt off will become a regular event at all your gatherings!!!
ReplyDeleteMarilyn, was the naked thing your idea? All I will say, is log cabins!!!!
Hope the food starts to go down soon.
Love the Smiles
whacko....! Marilyn I'm impressed...! hope it's more Monroe than Manson...glad to hear Jon's now on a staple diet but I think a Guinness and Vindaloo may do more good.
ReplyDeletekeep up the good work..
Vikki was going to write something boring like "we're thinking of you" .. Like I said to her who isn't !! Told me to write something funny and witty ... well mate "we're thinking of you"
ReplyDeleteRead the NAGA episode the other day, had a good laugh and remembered the last NAGA event we had at Hyams Beach a couple of years ago, with the sons and sons in law (me) .. I think another is due on the cards when you're back on deck. Bring Oli next time (can also bring Marilyn and Jen we like them too)..
It's been wonderful logging in daily and reading the comments from all your friends .. You are so luck to have so many friends and they, as are we lucky to have you, Marilyn, Oli and Jen.
Keep up the marching exercises and make sure the front of your jimjam boxer shorts is buttoned (don't want to scare the nurses).. Looks like you're making tremendous progress
Only 262 more comments - yay Marilyn (we need to update the photo !!)
Hugs and kisses ..
Adam, Vikki & Matt
Poor Jon, what a tough time he is having. Let's hope he is keeping everything in soon. Speaking about "keeping everything in" Marilyn, are you mad? Naked eh? Oh well, I guess a girl's gotta do whatever it takes for her man. (LOL) Sending positive, completely clothed vibes from the colonies!
ReplyDeleteLove Frances and Skip xoxoxox
At last something I could have helped with, I’ve had a staple remover on my desk for years and never found any practical use for it.
ReplyDeleteOn a more constructive note if their feeding you shampoo you should ask for the one with the laxative in it, “Wash and Go” you never know it could help with the sluggish digestive system.
So pleased you are making good progress looking forward to seeing you when you get home.

Back from the sun of Florida
