My dear, dear family and friends.
Just a quick post to let you all know I am home safe and sound in care of my family.
I have made remarkable progress in the last couple of days. The Sister said yesterday how totally amazed they all were at my positive attitude and my will to get better. I explained to her about my blog and the fantastic support network of our e community and how it was so easy to be positive with all the love and prayers coming my way. Thank you all so very very much. I am forever in your debt.
much love to you all and keep watching for further updates.
All my love,
Jon xxxxxx

YEAH!!!! Absolutely delighted Darling! Saw the Coopers last night and we have a date (when you are feeling up to it) for lunch at High Trees for the six of us (mind you my cooking might put you back in the Nuffield!). Bet the staff there are missing you. Now take it easy and we will be in touch.

About bloody time, anyone would think you've been sick or something! Your wife has been putting it about all over the internet. Your kids have been talking to strangers - is there no end? So please to hear you are home. Love and good vibes, as always,

No Jon, you can't play hockey this weekend. I couldn't believe how quickly you were running around after the foot op you had. This time take it more slowly for everyone's sake please. That way we can carry on blogging which has been uplifting for you and informative and fun for us.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing you very soon, so glad you're back home.
Lots of love.

P.S. Even the weather is pleased to see you!
Fantastic news Jon ! Don't overdo it, but I'm sure you'll continue to progress during your recuperation. And I'm sure we'll all get back to the bum jokes very soon ! But now you've made Marilyn more modest I've put the golfing nun joke below (apologies to non-golfing bloggers). Just a reminder that we're looking forward to getting you back on the course at Clandon asap . See you soon

A nun walks into the Mother Superior's office and plunks down into a chair.. She lets out a sigh heavy with frustration..
"What troubles you, Sister?" asked the Mother Superior. "I thought this was the day you spent with your family."
"It was," sighed the Sister. "And I went to play golf with my brother. We try to play golf as often as we can.
You know I was quite a talented golfer before I devoted my life to Christ."
"I seem to recall that," the Mother Superior agreed. "So, I take it your day of recreation was not relaxing?"
"Far from it," snorted the Sister. "In fact, I even took the Lord's name in Vain today!"
"Goodness, Sister!" gasped the Mother Superior, astonished. "You must tell me all about it!"
"Well, we were on the fifth tee ... And this hole is a monster, Mother – 540 yard, Par 5, with a nasty dogleg left and a hidden green ... And I hit the drive of my life. I creamed it. The sweetest swing I ever made.
And it's flying straight and true, right along the line I wanted ... And it hits this bird in mid-flight!"
"Oh my!" commiserated the Mother Superior. "How unfortunate! But surely that didn't make you blaspheme, Sister!"
"No, that wasn't it," admitted Sister. "While I was still trying to fathom what had happened, this squirrel runs out of the woods, grabs my ball and runs off down the fairway!"
"Oh, that would have made me blaspheme!" sympathized the Mother Superior.
"But I didn't, Mother!" sobbed the Sister. "And I was so proud of myself!
And while I was pondering whether this was a sign from God, this hawk swoops out of the sky
and grabs the squirrel and flies off, with my ball still clutched in its paws!"
"So that's when you cursed," said the Mother with a knowing smile..
"Nope, that wasn't it either," cried the Sister, anguished, "because as the hawk started to fly out of sight, the squirrel started struggling, and the hawk dropped him right there on the green, and the ball popped out of his paws and rolled to about 18 inches from the cup!"
Mother Superior sat back in her chair, folded her arms across her chest, fixed the Sister with a baleful stare and said...
"You missed the ------- putt, didn't you?
OK, not new, but made you smile I hope !

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're home safe and sound; it's been a deeply moving experience for us all, in all ways! We'll raise plenty of glasses to you over the next week or so on our boat trip in France, starting with the one in my hand now.
Look forward to seeing you when we get back.
Lots of love from us both

PS Sorry, couldn't resist one last golf joke
Four guys who worked together always golfed as a group at 7 a.m. Sunday. But one of them got transferred, and they were talking about trying to fill out the foursome.
A woman standing near the tee said, "Hey, I like to golf, can I join the group?"
They were hesitant but said she could come once to try it. She said "Good, I'll be there at 6:30 or quarter to seven."
She showed up right at 6:30, and wound up setting a course record with a 7-under-par round. The guys went nuts and everyone in the clubhouse congratulated her. Meanwhile, she was fun and pleasant the entire round. The guys happily invited her back the next week and she said "Sure, I'll be here at 6:30 or quarter to 7."
Again, she showed up at 6:30 Sunday morning. Only this time, she played left-handed, and matched her 7-under par score of the previous week. By now the guys were totally amazed, and they asked her to join the group for keeps.
They had a beer after their round, and one of the guys asked her, "how do you know if you're going to golf right-handed or left-handed?"
She said "That's easy. Before I leave for the golf course, I pull the covers off my husband, who sleeps in the nude. If his member is pointing to the right, I golf right-handed; if it's pointed to the left, I golf left-handed."
A guy asked "what if it's pointed straight up?"
She said "Then I'll be here at nine o'clock."

What great news! It is so good to hear your excellent progress. Positivity is the key. Took the other J Beale to Chelsea Flower Show yesterday. Bit of a mini Beale re-union to celebrate Dad's 80th birthday this year. The sun shone ... which was nice! Keep the positive vibes happening.

Great news Jon, we've been keeping abreast of your progress and you seem to have done brilliantly. We've another friend with the same thing and she's been encouraged by your blog - she suggested a joint 'bumsRUs' effort. Keep up the good work - our love to you all. Dave and Pat x
