Good News!
The consultant called me and said everything went well with no unexpected finds. He had to fit a bag but hopes this can be reversed when the bowel has healed. No blood transfusion needed and Jon is now going up to a high dependency room with a nurse in attendance 24 hours a day for 3 days. We are off to see him now very briefly but I wanted to let all you loyal supporters know the good news. I will post again after we have seen him tomorrow morning. What a relief... hopefully the three of us (and Jon!) will get a good night's sleep!

Hi Jon,
ReplyDeletePhilip here - John & Rita's cousin/godson (or niece, or grandfather, or second aunt twice removed or whatever I am). Just wanted to say that I'm a bit put out that a lot of the sympathy I've been getting from John & Rita over my leukaemia has now been funnelled your way (so to speak), and I'm feeling a bit short-changed.
Good news about your consultant's prognosis - well done - but I'd avoid phrases you used earlier like "my doctor has just given me the thumbs-up" as it conjures up the most horrific images. Glad he said there were no 'unexpected finds', but you can talk to him about this in more depth tomorrow when the surgeon comes back asking if anyone's seen his wristwatch...
So, to sum up, sorry to hear about your current condition, but really pleased it's going so well. Trust me, you'll be fine - and I'm speaking from experience as a fully-trained proctologist... well, maybe not 100% qualified, but I DO like to keep my hand in from time to time.
Time to go as I'm running out of arse-puns. Keep blogging and keep well.
Speak soon,
Philip
Really pleased that the news is good. Get a good nights sleep and please give him my love when you see him tomorrow,
ReplyDeletelots of love to all of you Sue xxx

I'm surprised his insides didn't play a practical joke on the surgeon, but I'm glad it all went well. Big salute to our brave colonel!

Hmmm...seas of nurses, football, 24 hour attention. If your story so far doesn't raise awareness & encourage people to be vigilant for symptoms I'm sure that will!
ReplyDeleteFantastic news, lots of love to Team Beale.

p.s. fully expecting the Poobah to make an appearance on next year's catwalks...
Hi Marilyn, Oli and Jen, fantastic to hear that stage one has passed with positive results. I have to confess I have become addicted to your site checking for news and reading comments every morning and night. Your family's experience through all of this would be fantastic as a film or documentary. Here I am far away in Australia feeling every emotion as I keep up with your days.
ReplyDeletePlease send Jon a big hug for me.
Love Janie
Hey Jon, your bum has had over 500 visitors in under a week! Looking forward to seeing you on a hockey pitch again soon. (Marilyn, you will HAVE to come and watch next time!) Love and best wishes, Tim
ReplyDeleteWhat a popular bum - We are delighted that all has gone so well, you hockey guys are so !!! fit, what you do to have 24 hours of lovely nurses looking after you, guess it gives Marilyn a little break.

Hi Jon!
ReplyDeleteAfter 45 minutes I have worked out how to operate this system!
To get here I HAVE HAD TO WADE THROUGH SOME OF THE MOST DISGUSTING PORNOGRAPHY I HAVE SEEN ON THE NET.
Time to retire before I start hearing from Gary Glitter and the old Bill turns up.
Well, as you know I am more than aware of some of what you are going through. It must have been quite a shock, but remember that you are now in a big club. Welcome!
I remember all those barium enemas sigmoid oscopies etc. You will soon be able to take anything that way. And then, once you are nicely settled on the ward, the students will want to practice on you!!!!!!
I wish you well. Surgery is good and well proven. As a "rude mechanical", I am a great believer in getting things fixed in the workshop.
Negative surgical margins are what you are looking for next, based on microscopic analysis. There are several further stages of treatment with successful outcomes if the news is not so good, so just concentrate on the stage you are on to improve your fitness for the next if it comes.
My motto over the last month has been "What a difference a day makes".
I guess it will be 3 weeks to a month before you start to feel like normal and then you will have to get fit.
I will look out and see when you are back to fitness for visiting.
Don't forget to do time and MOTION studies on the nurses movements, now that you are an expert. Watching em akes you mad me old fruit!
I am now back to cycling and running after 1 month, so op outcome good for my waterworks.
All the best
M
Hi Jon,
ReplyDeleteSo pleased the op went well, thinking of you, love the hat!! Take care, Dave and Benita x
Hi Jon
ReplyDeleteJust returned from holiday to hear of your news. Glad to read that your op went well. Hope you haven't done too much streaking around the ward as you tend to do during your little mad moments!! All our love and look forward to seeing you soon. Trev and Angie xx
