What a lovely day it was today, warm and sunny. Not an ideal day to spend your birthday alone in a hospital but Jon being Jon has just got on with it. The nurses gave him a card and then I went in with a big pile of cards and presents. Thanks so much for all the cards, messages, texts, etc – he really appreciated them, even though the funny ones hurt his side when he laughed! Yesterday he was a bit jaundiced but that has sorted itself out now. The wound has a red area around it which is sore but the blood tests show it is not an infection and is probably caused by the trauma going on underneath. They are keeping their eye on it. Having progressed to solid food he has been put back on liquids because nothing is going through. Bit of a setback but par for the course apparently. Tuesday has been mentioned for him to come home if everything has sorted itself out. Oli was here for a while and visited Jon but he has gone back to London now so I am home alone and am about to put my feet up with a cup of tea!

ReplyDeleteIt's Tuesday! Do hope it is good news for you all and that Jon will be coming home, free to fart and poo in the comfort of his own loo again after such a long time. Thought about you Jon on your birthday but were busy entertaining 23 Aussie cricketers at the Club. The Bradman Foundation. A very smart bunch of blokes indeed, who presented themselves in wonderful striped blazers, pale blue shirts, club ties and smartly pressed slacks (old fashioned word for you there). What a very smart turn-out - you would have been proud of them. Anyway, a good day, or should that be g'day, and hope that the fact we were looking after such a proud group of Aussies redeems us a bit for not checking the blog on your birthday. What special attention you are getting. Why have they emptied the hospital? Is it condemned? Must have missed some vital information earlier in the blog at some point. Hope it was nothing to do with you! Anyway, back to the important stuff, i.e. that you get home today, so hope it all goes to plan and we shall soon see you pottering around among the rhododendrons again. Much love Jon and Marilyn, from all the Simmos xxxx
ReplyDeleteHope they let you free today! It's my John's birthday today, so if you couldn't get home for your birthday, hopefully you can get home on his. Hope all continues to go well, love Tessa
