Last night I walked 9 holes of golf with my good friends Chris, Malcolm and Peter and actually played the ninth hole. It was a beautiful summers evening and I even enjoyed the 19th hole. It was a real thrill to be back on the course with them.
I went to see the consultant today and he was very pleased with my progress. I had a blood test to look for cancer proteins and on Monday I am having an x-ray on my bum to see if has healed. If this is OK we can plan the reversal. He likes to reverse the ileostomy after 4 months but we have our niece Karen’s wedding in New York at the beginning of October which we would like to go to so I may well delay it a couple of months. The operation is not as major as the first one and a week in hospital is normal. I will however need another 6 weeks off work to recover. Bring it on!

Hello Darling,
ReplyDeleteWonderful news! Keep up the good work. If you have the reversal surgery - what the heck will you do with the bag? I challenge everyone to come up with some constructive ideas!
Love ya,
Frances and Skip xoxoxox
I will definitely keep her.

Gosh life's one big holiday for you isn't it?! The things you'll do to get time off xxx
ReplyDeletePS if you still have your bag will it count as hand luggage? will you need to get a passport for it? does it contain more than 30ml of liquid? did you pack it yourself? it could get very complicated ......
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you on the course on Weds; you've been sorely missed. A very impressive kick out par on the 9th
ReplyDeleteAs I now have the bag puncture repair kit after leaving it in my car on Weds I hope you are walking around carefully.
Couldn't you have the bag stuffed and mounted; perhaps present it as a golf or hockey trophy? "The Beale Bag" has a certain je ne sais quoi about it. As most of us seem to keep the golfing trophies in the downstairs toilet then it's probably very apt.
Stick a couple of recorders in it and turn it in to bag pipes? I'm going to have to stop now, imagination is running away with me.
Good luck with the tests, can't say I've ever had an X-ray on my bum, although I think Trish wishes I'd do something with it.
LOL

All I can say is don't travel with Ryanair as they will charge you a very high penalty for the extra baggage!!
ReplyDeleteLove to you all and so glad that you are doing well.
