Can you believe it's now 9 months!

My dear friends

Can you believe it is now 9 months since diagnosis! I could have had a baby in that time and even have the Cesarean scar.

I had my 3 month check up last week with the surgeon and all was well.
I got my blood test results today and all was normal there as well. Yippee!!
I truly feel cured yet despite this I still sighed with relief on hearing the news. To have cancer is unusual as you don't really see the invader and just imagine it. I was lucky to have bowel cancer as apposed to other types as you can chop it out and if it hasn't broken out you are cured. These poor women with breast cancer for example, having invasive surgery doesn't necessarily do the trick and they have a lifetime of medication. I haven't taken a single pill.

Next step is a colonoscopy in April followed by a CAT scan to look for any secondaries. I know there won't be any so bring it on. If I am clear after a year the prognosis is excellent.

Much love and I look forward to catching up with you all soon.

  1. Well bully for you! You're so selfish. It's alright for you isn't it? You're cured, but I have no idea what's brewing down below for me.
Have you ever considered that because of this development I now have a brother AND an uncle who've had bowel cancer? Have you any idea of the strain this puts me under? I'm in a real squeeze, I can tell you. It's hard, and I'm choked. What I wouldn't give to be set loose from this anguish.
To top it all off I must now monitor my stools and have nasty things done to my bottom on a regular basis. Shame on you!

    Cheers,
    You little bruvva.

  2. You have recently made contact with my partner 'Hackney Boy' (Trevor), via the Macmillan site. We are only at the beginning of the journey - diagnosis last Saturday. Today has been a bad for us both. I thought I would take a look at your blog to see if it would improve my mood. This post has helped immensly. I have perused the rest of your blog and look forward to reading more over the next few days. I find it very helpful to know what to expect, not just from the patients perspective, but also from the perspective of those close to the patient.

  4. I don't know, I fail to check your blog for a couple of weeks and then you slip in another posting!! Glad to hear that everything is well and that you are back to normal (if that is possible!). It must be such a relief. I understand you scored a goal for the Pitts on your debut congratulations, there are still 6 weeks left of the season. Are you going to go for top goal scorer? Hope to see you soon.
    Love Jane
